Rose Nails

I'm slowly working my way to be more creative with my nails. This nail of the week I'm quite proud of even though it doesn't look perfect. I wanted something soft and pretty but still a little fun. I remember stumbling accross a link from Syl and Sam about their nail tutorials. So I gave the nail art rose tutorial a go.

The taupe colour was Decorous by Rescue Beauty Lounge and the pink is by Suzi Sells Seashells by OPI. Roses were a combination Alpine Snow and My Daddy is the King both by OPI. The leaves are Starboard by China Glaze. The bubbling in the roses are due to a combination of me using too much polish for the roses and the top coat of Seche Vite getting slightly thicker due to the polish being used past the half way mark. I hate it when it does that. I wonder if putting a thinner in it would help or just ruin the fast drying properties of the Seche Vite? Seems like a bit of waste to throw it out half way. It's just so unmanageable half way.

Confetti Nails

This manicure turned out pretty well considering I didn't have much expectations for it. I had my mind set on doing a dotted type nail theme of some sort. I tossed and turned between all these different ideas and patterns (most of them out of my skill level as usual). In the end, I decided to do something simple but with high impact. I call it Confetti, but it did also remind me of my beloved childhood party food Fairy Bread.

Including the base coat it was 9 different colour polishes in total using bobby pins. I probably should have taken a photo off all the different polishes I used but I forgot. If anyone is desperate enough I can recall them, but honesty I would use a different colour pallet. The base colour was OPI Alpine Snow and the colours were a variety of OPI, China Glaze and Ulta 3. Even looking up close though you could tell the difference between the quality of the polishes even via mere dots. The lesser chemist store brand of Ulta 3 stained where as the OPI and China Glaze did not.

If you want to see a fancy filtered version of the photo (I forgot to save it to my phone) check out my Instagram page. Filters do wonders for my inadequate photography skills.

First Post - Rainbow Glitter Nails

I wasn't quite sure how to finally start my foray into the blogging world except maybe to say here goes nothing.

I though baby steps would be the best way to begin this process and starting off with something I love doing/writing/talking/sharing is nail polish. This is a simple comb that I thought looked nice. It is Eyeko nail polish in Cosmic with a layer of a random flakie glitter nail polish I got in Japan.

I really do apologies for this first photo. I tend to get lobster hands quite often (or I like to think every once in a while). Cosmic is a black cream (or is it creme?) polish with tiny rainbow glitter throughout. The random Japanese flakie is in a clear base. The purpose was to show the intensity of the glitter from Cosmic and the flakie in contrast to the black base. This was taken with my iPhone, indoors, in florescent lighting.

This second photo was me being creative with Instagram and trying to see how I could use some of the filters to show more of the gorgeousness of the rainbow glitter and flakie. It almost does it justice to how beautiful it looked in real life. Although using a better camera may have helped too ;)
